Rites, LLC is proud to present this comprehensive introduction to the power of Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

This course teaches the principles of relational database design and introduces the student to Microsoft's SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS). Students will begin with the fundamentals of data modeling, then move into database design, data manipulation and database security and maintenance. Students will receive an overview of SQL Server Integration Services and learn to create eye-catching and informative reports in SQL Server Reporting Services.

During this one week course (two weeks on the evening schedule) students will learn the skills needed to turn raw data into true business value.

Day 2:

• Fundamentals of Data Manipulation Language (DML)
• Selecting, Inserting, Updating and Deleting Data from tables
• Working with related tables
• Creating Views and Stored Procedures
• Creating User-Defined Functions
• Exception-handling in Transact SQL
• Working with Transactions

Day 3:

• Advanced DML commands and concepts
• Extending SQL Server using the Common Language Runtime (CLR)

• Introduction to using XML Data with SQL Server

Day 4:

• Introduction to the BIDS
• Introduction to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Fundamentals of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) for Business Intelligence (BI)
• Modeling Data for Business Intelligence Delivery
• Transforming Operational Data into Dimensional Data for BI
• Design Considerations for Supporting Ad-hoc queries

• Report Design in BIDS
• Layout controls and design elements
• Creating Interactive Reports
• Enhancing Reports with Grapic Elements
• Review and Evaluation

*Each day represents a six-hour daytime class. Evening classes will be for two weeks and each day will be covered in two days.
